If planting more than one strata of vegetation, factor in the space occupied by plant types
that are more widely spaced when determining quantities of smaller types of vegetation.
For example, calculate the amount of shrubs based upon planting density and the area of
the site, then subtract the amount of trees planned for the same area to determine the total
quantity of shrubs needed. The form below
calculates this for you for both shrubs and groundcovers. This calculator assumes grid spacing. (Note: o.c. = on center)
